Attorney April Geltmaker

Attorney April Geltmaker

April Geltmaker represents Debtors in Chapter 7 and Chapter 13 bankruptcies and advises clients on Creditor Rights, business matters and contracts.

Licensed to practice in Indiana and Kentucky, April also counsels employers on personnel policies and procedures, hiring and termination practices, leaves of absence and accommodations, discipline, non-compete agreements, severance and other employment agreements.

“I like helping people find their way through what feels overwhelming. Whether it’s a business working through a contract or a family facing bankruptcy, I want my clients to leave knowing they have a plan and someone in their corner.”

Born and raised in Floyd County, Indiana, April is a graduate of Floyd Central High School. She continued her education at Indiana University Southeast, where she graduated with High Distinction, earning a B.A. in Psychology with a minor in French.

April went on to earn her law degree from the Indiana University Robert H. McKinney School of Law in Indianapolis, where she also spent a summer studying in France, London, Germany and Luxembourg.

After law school, April worked as a sole practitioner in Indianapolis and the surrounding areas, focusing her practice on family law, personal injury and bankruptcy cases. She also served as a contract attorney with the Marion County Public Defender’s Agency, representing parents in DCS cases.

April later served as General Counsel for Greater Clark County Schools, an opportunity that brought her, her husband and their two daughters back home to Floyd County, where they now live on property that has been in her father’s family since 1888.

“Floyd County is home. It’s where I grew up, and now it’s where I’m raising my own family, on the same land that’s been in my family for well over a century.”
